A Self-Interview by Skydrop Quillfeather, Cloudbase Correspondent
Everypony knows me as the mare behind the notes. The quiet pegasus scribbling quotes on the sidelines while everybolt else races through the skies. I’m Skydrop Quillfeather—journalist, winged wordsmith, and official correspondent of the Wonderbolts Academy.
But you know what? Maybe it’s time I stepped out of the margin and into the spotlight for once. So, I sat myself down, took a long breath, and asked… “Who is Skydrop Quillfeather, really?”
✍️ Where I Come From
I was born under the northern lights in the sleepy skytown of Cirrus Point, way past the Everfree’s edge. It was cold, quiet, and a little too slow for a young filly with wings that wouldn’t stay still. My mama was a cloudcrafter. My dad was a stormwatcher. They both had their eyes on the sky—but I always had mine on ponies.
While most foals dreamed of Wonderbolt uniforms, I dreamed of stories. I’d follow local patrols, sketching their dialogue in the margins of my hoofbook. Not to gossip—just to remember. The way their eyes lit up before takeoff. The nervous laugh before a risky dive. I wanted to preserve those moments like stardust caught in a jar.
✈️ Why I Chose the Pen Over the Goggles
I was never the fastest. Never the strongest. My flying is steady, safe—but I’ve seen enough crashes to know that sometimes, staying grounded in your own way is its own kind of flight.
I trained briefly at the Cloudsdale Writing Conservatory before volunteering with pegasus rescue teams during the Stormfront Winter. There, I realized how much the skies carry: sorrow, pride, sacrifice, and joy. It wasn’t just about who could fly fastest—it was about what drove them to fly at all. That’s the story I wanted to tell.
🎤 Joining the Wonderbolts Academy
Years later, I met Captain Rainbow Dash during a seminar on media ethics in military training. She was late, loud, and unfiltered—but when she spoke about loyalty, it hit me in the feathers.
Soon after, I was invited to join the Wonderbolts Academy—not as a flier, but as their official chronicler. Since then, I’ve stood through promotions, stood behind demotions, covered crash courses (literally), and captured the quiet triumphs between.
🌈 What I Believe In
If I had to sum it up?
Everypony has a story worth flying for.
Whether you’re a Cadet trying to find your wingbeat or a Captain rediscovering your spark, I believe the skies have a place for you. My role isn’t just to write—it’s to remember. To listen. To notice the small moments others miss and turn them into ink that glows on the page.
Final Thoughts from… Me
I’m Skydrop Quillfeather. I don’t break sound barriers. I don’t wear medals.
But I carry stories like feathers in my satchel, and when the wind is right—I let them fly.
Altius Volantis. Always.
